Guests joined Blaine Ashley for the official NYC debut of XECO sherry on Tuesday, March 12th at Spanish Tapas bar, Bar Jamon. This new to the US sherry was served neat and in cocktails too, alongside tasty tapas curated to pair with the fresh and forward-thinking wines. UK based co-founder, Beanie Espey flew to the city to chat with an exclusive group of trade and media attendees about the concept and inspiration behind XECO.
XECO is the brain-child of three 30-something female 'fino fiends' from the UK who have long shared a love of fine sherry.
With 30 combined years of experience in the industry, the trio share more than just a love of this magical Spanish wine -they also have a deep understanding of how it’s made and of the wonderful traditions upon which it is built.
In early 2016 they set out to create a new brand of sherry to put a contemporary edge on an age-old product.The ladies of XECO teamed up with a magnificent bodega that has been producing sherry wines since 1876.
So, although the name may be new, the wines have a long and distinguished lineage yet the labels are fun and forward thinking as is their marketing approach.

Inviting the World’s Best Bartenders to Create the First Ever Definitive Mezcal Cocktail!
A multi-city cocktail #competition with Pelotón de la Muerte, aiming to develop an original #cocktail that belongs to #mezcal using only four ingredients. As the cocktail scene booms, The Mezcal Collaborative Mezcalistas , Panorama Mezcal and Pelotón de la Muerte are working towards innovating new mezcal forward #cocktails that become synonymous to the #spirit. Just as an “Old Fashioned” is synonymous with whiskey and bourbon.
Mixologists are encouraged to be as creative as possible with the idea that less is more and simple is better because cocktails must be replicable at home or at any reputable cocktail bar. The competition will be judged on taste, appearance, originality, and cocktail name.

Ashley's third annual Prosecco Cocktail Competition returns to upper east side cocktail haunt—Seamstress. This popular event features seven of New York's top bartenders competing to win best Prosecco cocktail highlighting Cinzano Prosecco and a range of spirits from Palm Bay International. Competitors draw their spirit at random two-weeks prior to the competition in efforts to concoct the best creative, fizzy cocktail for an opportunity to win a $500 cash prize. This event is an open-invitation to the food and beverage industry.
